Open enrollment is from Nov. 1 through Jan. 31.

Medi-Cal and Covered California use the same application. After you enter your information, you will find out whether you qualify for Medi-Cal or Covered California.

After you pick a plan, select the Pay Now button to make your first payment. You’ll receive a membership ID card from your health insurance company after it receives this payment.

If you decide not to pay online, you’ll get a bill from your health insurance company about two weeks after it receives your application.

For most life events that qualify you for special enrollment, your coverage will start on the first day of the following month after you select a plan.
